Among those presentations Stephen Lewis was named 1st XI Player of the year, Luke Edgar won the Sunday side’s equivalent award, Scott Eade took the Magic Moment Award and Alex Crane was named Young Player of the Year. Stonham’s Sunday side up to third place

Stonham’s Sunday team beat Worlington II to make it five wins in six games and are now sitting in third place in Division 4 of the the Hunts County Bats League. With only one wicket remaining and chasing a low total of 140 runs, Paul Storer and Simon Edgar saw Stonham safely home to victory. A win against fourth place Woolpit Academy next weekend should give Stonham a great chance to secure promotion. Last weekend’s opening ceremony for Stonham’s new pavilion was extremely successful. It was great to see many familar faces come along to celebrate the result of a lot of hard work from various members, vice presidents, friends…

    Pavilion opens with a bang!

Last weekend’s home matches against Bury St Edmunds CC III and Elvedon CC saw the opening of Earl Stonham’s new cricket pavilion and a record breaking number of runs at the ground. Stonham won both matches convincingly on a magnificent batting wicket. Scott Eade and Luke Edgar were the (super)star performers together accumulating an enormous 368 runs over both matches and forming a 171 run partnership on Sunday! Eade (sometimes known as Seade on the field) became the second Stonham player to score back-to-back centuries (118 followed by 100 n.o.) over a weekend. Edgar was equally as impressive finishing the weekend with two unbeaten innings; a very handy 40 n.o…

    Mid-season message from the chairman

Things are really moving on with the new pavilion which is already looking great and we hope to have the keys shortly. We have received the grant from Mid-Suffolk District Council towards the costs and we are grateful for their support. Earl Stonham Parish Council and The Earl Stonham Trust have also supported the project and we thank them, too. We are planning to open the pavilion officially on the day of the President’s Game on Sunday, August 28th. We hope to have a lot of people at the ground for this event. Please join us if you can. Further details to follow. On the field results have been mixed…

Pavilion almost finished as first team are back on track!

The new pavilion has been erected and the completion date is estimated to be sometime in July. Last weekend Stonham’s Saturday side beat Eight Ash Green who travelled up from North Essex. Scott Martin, Harry Wrinch and Scott Eade got Stonham off to a good start after Eight Ash Green posted a decent total of 205 (all out), however, the star performer was the captain. Following a seven wicket haul against Harwich and Dovercourt the week before, Captain Charlie Tunstall continued his rich vein of form by taking 4 wickets and notching-up 65 runs, helping Stonham to victory. There was no game for the Sunday side who continue their campaign…

Stonham off to slow start as Wrinch, Fenning and Crane shine

The season is underway and both Stonham teams have started slowly but positively. After narrowly losing their first game of the season the Saturday side has conjured up one victory so far, defeating Bury St Edmunds III by a whopping amount of runs. Harry Wrinch and Sam Fenning (shown smashing a ball to leg side in the inset below) were the star performers scoring 127 (Wrinch) and 79 (Fenning) respectively. The second team have played with good spirit and last Sunday they won handsomely against newly promoted Bardwell II. Sixteen year old Alex Crane, who recently stepped up to the senior cricket after coming through the Stonham junior acadamy, took…
