    ESCC win emphatically at Elmstead

The Saturday XI picked up their first win of the season in emphatic fashion away at Elmstead Grasshoppers CC. After losing the toss Elmstead elected to bat first and got off to a good start punishing anything short, Ant Stowe claimed the first wicket of the match bowling Parikh. Stonham then got more of a grip on the game and runs were hard to flow for the hosts, Stephen Lewis’s bowling and some good fielding from ESCC built the pressure, and wickets started to fall. Dan Snell (who was wicketkeeping) took two smart stumpings which helped Stephen Lewis claim his second successive “Fifer” of the season. Finishing on figures of…

Lucy close to completing fundraising challenge

To show her support for ESCC during the unprecedented 2020 season, friend of the club Lucy Wilcox is close to completing a challenge to run 93.09 miles in June. Why this number, you ask? A distance of 93.09 miles is equivalent to 22 yards (the length of a cricket pitch) for every run scored by Earl Stonham in 2019 (4887 runs) plus a mile for every year since the club reformed in 1988. More information about the challenge and Lucy’s story can be found on the JustGiving website: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/escc The club would like to congratulate and thank Lucy, who’s done an outstanding job raising awareness of Crohn’s disease and supporting…
