2026 Saturday Season update
The Saturday XI have made an excellent start to the season, winning all seven of our opening fixtures, we currently sit top of Division 6.
While there’s still a long way to go, the early signs are extremely encouraging. Performances with bat, ball and in the field have all been of a high standard, with contributions from all the team. It’s been a proper team effort, which has been great to see.
A standout performer so far has been Stephen Lewis, who has been outstanding with the ball and currently leads the league wicket charts with 23 wickets, a fantastic achievement at this stage of the season.
Availability has also been very strong, which has created healthy competition for places. Unfortunately this means some players have missed out on selection at times, but I’d like to thank those affected for their positive attitude and continued support of the team.
Off the pitch, it’s been great to see the ground so well supported by spectators. The addition of the electronic scoreboard has really enhanced matchdays, particularly with the benefit of live scoring now available on Play-Cricket.
Unfortunately, we say goodbye to Hassaan Khuskhwan, who is moving to Scotland for work. Hassaan has been excellent with both bat and ball in the seven games he’s played and has quickly become a big part of the dressing room. We wish him all the very best, hopefully we’ll see him back at ESCC in the future!
Looking ahead, we are hosting a fundraising summer BBQ on Saturday 13th during our home game against Yoxford CC. The BBQ will start from 6:30pm, with the bar open throughout the day. It would be great to see as many people down as possible! come along, enjoy the cricket and stay for some food and a drink.
