Macro five-fer and nail-biting finish

Last Sunday, Stonham’s Sunday XI faced Brettenham Park in enthralling encounter.

Brettenham batted first setting a target of 183. Kirsty Macrow played a big part in Stonham’s bowling attack taking five wickets for 46 runs, her best figures to date for Stonham.

Stonham started their innings well with Luke Edgar top-scoring with 76 runs.

The final run chase was lead by two members with plenty of experience, Sam Fenning and Simon Edgar, who formed a solid partnership.

With plenty of balls and wickets in hand towards the final few overs, Stonham stalled a little.

Unfortunately, Fenning was bowled shortly before the end of the innings, eventually leaving Edgar and Chris Pope to try and see things through.

It all came down to the final two balls. In the end, Edgar held his nerves and hit a winning boundary, finishing off a lovely day’s cricket.

No doubt both Stonham and Brettenham will look forward to their next encounter later in the season at Earl Stonham.
