2024 Season News

2024 Saturday season so far…

We are now over halfway into the 2024 campaign, and sit 10th in Two Counties – Division 6. Unfortunately our season has been heavily affected by the weather, with 5 games being cancelled (The most in the league).

These cancellations have came at crucial points in the season, against opposition around our league position. Despite this in the 8 games we have managed to play, we have been very competitive; narrowly losing but more importantly winning close games.

We’ve welcomed some new players into the Saturday team too, Jordan Dye & Paul Allen both joined and bring a wealth of experience. Both played key roles in our victories against Kesgrave & Worlingworth. 13 year old, James Palmer made his Saturday debut and showed great maturity bowling in a very close game, he has a bright future!

Despite not being where we’d hope to be at this stage of the season, our bowlers have been faultless. Restricting teams to low totals or making it difficult for teams to chase. Jordan Dye, Colin Macrow, Ant Stowe, Stephen Lewis, Kirsty Macrow & Ollie Foster have all been excellent with the ball. It’s now up to the batters (Including myself!) to step up and support our bowlers.

Support for the team has been fantastic, as captain it’s brilliant to see so many people popping up for a drink & watching some Cricket. A special mention to the Knight family who turn up in their droves!

This season we opened an online club shop for players and supporters, it’s been great to see so many members wearing the new kit. Here is the link if you wish to take a look – https://earl-stonham-cc.surridgesport.com/

Our attention now turns to our final 7 fixtures, beginning this weekend at high-flying Brightlingsea.

As always, thanks for your support.

Luke
