Pavilion opens with a bang!
Last weekend’s home matches against Bury St Edmunds CC III and Elvedon CC saw the opening of Earl Stonham’s new cricket pavilion and a record breaking number of runs at the ground. Stonham won both matches convincingly on a magnificent batting wicket.
Scott Eade and Luke Edgar were the (super)star performers together accumulating an enormous 368 runs over both matches and forming a 171 run partnership on Sunday!
Eade (sometimes known as Seade on the field) became the second Stonham player to score back-to-back centuries (118 followed by 100 n.o.) over a weekend. Edgar was equally as impressive finishing the weekend with two unbeaten innings; a very handy 40 n.o on Saturday followed by an A B De Villiers style maiden century on Sunday (100 n.o.) in just 16 overs! Scott Hornsby was the pick of the bowlers over both matches, helping Stonham to victory on Saturday by notching up 4 wickets.
Even the opposition seemed to enjoy the specticle; Elvedon CC tweeted: “Great game at @EarlStonhamCC some great batting performances by both teams. A pleasure to watch and score.”.
This weekend Ipswich CC’s 2nd XI travel to Stonham’s . The Sunday side travel to Bardwell, aiming for a third win on the trot.
