Last Saturday Sam Fenning (pictured batting at Worlington) hit a remarkable 156 not out, leaving him currently in 5th position on the list of all time ESCC high scores for batting and at the top of last week’s batting leaderboard. Stonham scored a massive 282 which helped them secure a solid victory over Kelvedon & Feering.
Unfortunately Stonham didn’t manage to seal back-to-back victories in their Bank Holiday Monday fixture against Worlington. A series of dropped catches was the main cause; the old saying ‘catches win matches’ was certainly true that day. Despite not having any chances of winning the game, Martin Stevens and Ant Stowe batted bravely at the end to seal a couple of extra batting points.
This weekend Stonham’s Sunday side are back in action, playing away at Hadleigh. The first team’s Saturday fixture is away at Harwich & Dovercourt.
This Friday’s net session will be a good opportunity for players to get into the cricket zone for the weekend’s action!
