Sunday team off the mark
The Sunday side are off the mark with an away win against Hadleigh. A half century from Stephen Lewis steadied the ship. Colin Macrow, despite picking up a leg injury, managed to increase the strike rate with some heavy hitting. Then Steve Stowe continued the fluency with some big scoring sixes. The final few overs saw Jordan Dye blitz a series of fours and sixes leaving Stonham on 217. Hadliegh got off to an ok start to their innings, but some very tight bowling from Ant Stowe, Ravi Giryappa, Jordan Dye and later on from Chris Pope with some steady swing, made sure that the game was virtually won with a few overs remaining. If there was a man-of-the-match award, it would go to Jordan Dye (pictured below, scoring with 2nd XI Captain, Luke Edgar) for his all round performance, which included a brave belly block late on in the Hadleigh innings, preventing what would have been a certain four runs! The Sunday side’s next game is away at Hartest on the 17th June.
The Saturday side face Worlington again today, but this time at home, hoping to improve upon their performance from two weeks ago.
