2017 Season News

Thursday evening net sessions

Practice net sessions have been up and running for a few weeks. The sessions start at around 6pm every Thursday (weather permitting). Anyone willing to play adult cricket for Stonham is very welcome to come along and take part.

The first few sessions have seen a good number of ESCC members and newcomers try their hands at batting and chance their arms at bowling. Mostly importantly these sessions are great fun and provide an excellent opportunity to get your eye in before the weekend’s action.

Last weekend the Saturday team lose against a strong Kelvedon side. Despite the loss, there were some positives to take from the game into this weekend’s match against Needham Market.

The Sunday team won again handsomely. Batting-wise Stonham scored 204 with Simon Edgar (71) and Stephen Lewis (77 n.o.) scoring the bulk of the runs. Stonham bowled out Lavenham before they got too close for comfort to their total. The pick of the bowlers was teenager, Alex Crane, who bagged 4 wickets for only 21 runs.
