Solid batting sees off Braintree

The top order all chipped in with runs to help the Saturday side beat Braintree at the weekend. On Sunday the second eleven travelled to Long Melford. The gloomy weather forecast predicted rain for most of the afternoon, but fortunately it only fell during tea. However, despite fielding well with 10 players and Scott Eade scoring a gritty 82 runs, Stonham’s bowling attack couldn’t quite break through all of Long Melford’s top batting order on a sticky wicket.

Long Melford fielded two over 70s, one of whom is due to play for England over 70s this winter in Australia! Well done to Taylor Thorpe (above) for dispatching his first England international!
