2014 Season News

Season’s Greetings from all at ESCC

The season’s activities ended with the Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening, held this year at the Stowmarket Golf Club. A well-attended occasion saw the regular, hard-earned playing awards handed out. The players’ players of the season were Scott Gregory for the 1st XI and Taylor Thorpe for the Sunday side. The presentations concluded with a special award to Simon Edgar who has made an outstanding contribution to the club over the twenty-five seasons the club has completed since it re-formed in 1988. Thanks again, Simon.

The Annual General Meeting was held in November. The officers and captains for 2015 were elected with Charlie Tunstall back as captain of the 1st XI and Luke Edgar again in charge of the Sunday side. We wish them both every success.

Our thanks go to Jonny Hails who stepped down as 1st XI captain after doing a terrific job for the past two seasons.

Next season our sides will be playing in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship, Division 5, on Saturdays and The Hunts County Bats Suffolk Cricket League, Division 4, on Sundays.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone, whether experienced players or keen beginners, who is interested in playing for one of the adult teams. There will be pre-season practices sessions in March and April at Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club’s fantastic new facilities. Contact numbers are on this website.

We look forward to seeing our regular youngsters again next summer. If you are between eight – or even younger, as some of our regulars were this year! – and sixteen years old, boys or girls, and want to give cricket a try, come and join in on Monday evenings when we start in May. You can be sure of a warm welcome.
