Stonham beat top-of-the-table Bury St Edmunds
There hasn’t been much to shout about so far this season, but finally after weeks of hard effort and dedication, Stonham managed to get their first win of the season against the top-of-the-table side, Bury St Edmunds, at the Victory Ground, in Division 1 of the Suffolk Cricket League.
Stuart Turner gave a superb all round performance, taking 3 wickets with the ball and scoring an unbeaten 35 runs. Chasing 207 to win, Turner supported opener Jake Dye, who ended up on 85 n.o., to successfully chase down the total.
Stonham’s Saturday side came ever closer to their first victory of the season against local rivals Stowupland, in a well contested match.
This weekend, both sides have away games. The Saturday side travels to Maldon, where Alastair Cook began adult cricket aged 11. The Sunday side face another West Suffolk side, Brockley, at home.
