Chairman’s end of season message
Another season has come and gone and we can look back with some satisfaction at the way things have gone for both our sides.
The Saturday XI finished with a win over Nacton which meant that they had 9 wins and 12 defeats during the season with only one game lost to the weather – quite surprising given the sort of summer we’ve had. A respectable 8th place in Division 5 of the Marshall Hatchick two Counties Cricker Championship means that we keep our place in that Division for 2016. Well done Charlie, Luke and the players who have represented us in this competition, particularly those who have made themselves available for most of the fixtures and those who have helped us out at short notice on occasions.
The Sunday side finished their campaign with a defeat against Battisford but they finished in a very satisfactory mid-table position. They have acquitted themselves well under Luke’s captaincy and it has been good to see one or two new players beginning to make contributions with bat and ball as well as the some of the stalwarts of the club continuing to enjoy Sunday cricket.
Thoughts are now turning to tidying up the loose ends of another summer. Firstly there is the autumn groundwork to be undertaken. Then there will be the Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening, to be held this year at Stowmarket Golf Club on October 10th (tickets now available at £25 per head). All friends of the club are very welcome at this function. And finally there will be the Annual General Meeting which will take place on Monday, November 9th at the Crown, Stowupland at which we hope to see all club members. We would also be delighted to welcome any new members at that meeting.
