Close encounters

Both Stonham teams were part of two superb matches that went right down to the wire last weekend. The Saturday game saw Stonham trying to defend 188 against Nacton, losing out by just a single run on the final ball of the game! Once again Stonham opened solidly, but perhaps faltered a little in the middle order, before making a recovery at the tail-end. The bowling attack almost finished the job, but grittiness in Nacton’s tail paid off in the end, winning the away team the match.

The Sunday side chased down 169 against Battisford II with just one ball remaining! Two wins on the trot mean that Stonham now lie fourth in Division 4 of the Hunts County Bats League.
